Important Announcement Regarding 2020 GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference in Louisville
March 13, 2020 - In recognition of the growing health risks worldwide posed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and decisions by governments and businesses to curtail activities over the next few weeks, it is with great regret that we inform you that IAAO and URISA have decided to cancel the 2020 GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference, scheduled to take place March 23-26, 2020 in Louisville Kentucky.
The health and safety of our members, attendees, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors is our top priority. We believe that, given the current situation, cancelling this event is for the overall benefit of all parties involved. With concurrence of the IAAO President Amy Rasmussen, RES, AAS, FIAAO and URISA President Keri Brennan, GISP we are operating out of an abundance of caution after reviewing guidance from the CDC, and getting input from members who raised concerns about being absent from their communities during this crisis. This has been a very difficult decision and we would like to thank all our partners, sponsors, exhibitors and participants for their understanding at this time.
We’re working on the process for conference registrants to request a refund or transfer registration to next year’s GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference and will communicate that as soon as possible. Please remember to contact the Omni Louisville (phone: 502/313-6664) to cancel your hotel reservations. We greatly appreciate all of the speakers who had offered to share knowledge with the community. We were looking forward to your presentations and will follow up with future opportunities. Sponsors/exhibitors, we also look forward to discussing opportunities to connect with IAAO and URISA members. Thank you for your support.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our participants and partners. Our sympathies go to those who are affected with COVID-19 around the world.
What if your imagery basemap could be updated more frequently? How would your workflow be improved if your imagery layer was never more than a few months old? A key component to a comprehensive GIS and asset management strategy is reliable aerial imagery. From an accurate basemap, many useful insights and layers can be generated remotely, alleviating the need to always be in the field. In recent years, we’ve seen a substantial shift, an industry migration, from localized content to cloud-based services. This has been especially true in the GIS industry, with the rising prominence of web-based platforms such as ArcGIS Online and ArcPro.
Despite this evolution, the process in place for procuring, collecting, processing, and updating aerial imagery remains largely unaltered. In this presentation, we will take a closer look at how that has started to change as imagery moves to the cloud, unleashing the scalability and speed that comes with hosted services. No longer is aerial imagery a single snapshot in time that only gets refreshed on a multi-year cycle. Now imagery can more confidently communicate truth on the ground for existing or potential assets. Now, you can stream reality as a service.
